Collaborate and communicate on cards

What are Comments?

Comments allow team members to discuss tasks, ask questions, provide updates, and share feedback directly on cards. All conversations are kept in context with the relevant work.

Comments are displayed chronologically and can include mentions to notify specific team members, making them ideal for asynchronous collaboration.

Adding a Comment

  1. Open the card - Click on any card to view its details.
  2. Find the comment section - Scroll down to the "Activity" or "Comments" area.
  3. Type your comment - Enter your message in the comment text box.
  4. Click "Post" or press Ctrl+Enter - Your comment is added to the card.
  5. View in timeline - Your comment appears in the activity feed with your name and timestamp.

Mentioning Team Members

  1. Type "@" in your comment - A dropdown appears with team member names.
  2. Start typing a name - The list filters to match your search.
  3. Click or press Enter - Select the person you want to mention.
  4. Their name appears highlighted - Shows as a clickable mention in the comment.
  5. They receive a notification - The mentioned person is notified about the comment.

Editing Your Comments

  1. Find your comment - Locate the comment you want to edit in the activity feed.
  2. Hover over the comment - Action buttons appear (Edit, Delete).
  3. Click "Edit" - The comment becomes editable.
  4. Make your changes - Update the text as needed.
  5. Click "Save" - Your changes are saved.
  6. Edit indicator - Edited comments show "(edited)" to indicate they were modified.

Adding Reactions

  1. Hover over a comment - A reaction button appears.
  2. Click the emoji icon - An emoji picker opens.
  3. Select an emoji - Common reactions include 👍, ❤️, 🎉, 👀, 🚀.
  4. Reaction is added - Shows below the comment with a count.
  5. Click to remove - Click your reaction again to remove it.

Deleting Comments

⚠️ Note: You can only delete your own comments. Admins may also have deletion permissions.

  1. Find your comment - Locate it in the activity feed.
  2. Hover over the comment - Action buttons appear.
  3. Click "Delete" - A confirmation prompt appears.
  4. Confirm deletion - The comment is permanently removed.

Effective Commenting

Make the most of comments with these best practices:

  • Be specific - Reference specific details or requirements in your comments.
  • Use mentions - Tag relevant team members so they're notified.
  • Provide context - Include links, screenshots, or explanations when needed.
  • Keep it relevant - Comments should relate to the card's task.
  • Use reactions for simple responses - A 👍 is quicker than typing "sounds good."
  • Update status - Use comments to communicate progress or blockers.

  • Comments are searchable - use keywords that make finding information easier
  • Add file attachments directly through comments for quick sharing
  • Use comments for decisions so there's a record of why choices were made
  • Check the activity feed to catch up on what's happened while you were away
